What exactly is Dotreality?
A research practice investigating the forces reshaping fashion, and making possible futures tangible. We study what's changing underneath the industry, build alternative futures grounded in research, and turn them into things you can see, hold and think with.
How is this different from trend forecasting?
Trend forecasting tells you what's selling next season. We work on a longer horizon, roughly five to fifteen years, looking at the deeper forces across technology, culture, science and policy that decide which trends matter and which disappear. Trends describe the surface. We investigate what's moving underneath.
Who do you work with?
Brands, institutions, universities, curators and cultural partners. Anyone trying to understand where fashion is heading and prepare for it, whether that's through a research project, a commission, an exhibition, or a workshop.
What can a collaboration look like?
It takes different shapes. A research project investigating a specific question. A set of speculative artefacts for an exhibition or publication. A guest lecture or a workshop. A longer partnership tracking signals over time. We scope each one around what you're trying to explore.
Are you predicting the future?
No. We don't predict, we investigate. The futures we build aren't forecasts, they're thinking tools, plausible worlds that help you see further and ask sharper questions. The value is in the quality of the questions, not false certainty.
